In the Office
My path to Define Financial wasn’t a straight line. I spent several years learning that not every firm in this industry is built around the one thing that matters — our clients.
When you’re helping families make decisions that affect the rest of their lives, that difference matters. Define Financial was the first place where my thinking about financial planning aligned with how the firm actually operated.
I joined in 2023 — and after years of working toward this — it felt less like a new job, and more like arriving somewhere I was always headed.
Today, I spend my days working alongside retirees and those approaching retirement, helping them turn a lifetime of saving into a retirement they actually enjoy.
Behind the Scenes
Years before joining Define, and as a member of the Financial Planning Association, I took part in a three-day externship, shadowing a practicing financial advisor in their office. That advisor happened to be our founder, Taylor Schulte, CFP®. Those three days stuck with me.
After years at other firms — and earning my CFP® designation along the way — I kept finding myself measuring every place against what I’d seen in those three days.
In 2023, I stopped looking.
Outside of the Office

San Diego Roots
Like Tyler and Taylor, I’m a San Diego native. Hard to beat the weather, the food, and nearly everything within a 15-minute drive. Between my big local family, Chewy the Shiba Inu, and a cat named Monica Pickles — there’s never a dull day.

Team Sports
I’m an avid sports fan and still play in adult leagues when I can. And yes, I’m still holding out hope that San Diego gets an NBA team someday. Wishful thinking.

Coffee & Tea
I take my morning routine seriously. Light roast pour-overs, single-origin beans, loose-leaf silver needle and Yunnan black teas — always measured, always intentional. If that sounds like how I approach a financial plan, it’s probably not a coincidence.
