He also ranked as the #2 top advisor in 2020, and among the top 100 in 2019 and 2018.

Investopedia Top 100: An Award Apart

The Investopedia 100 is distinct from many other financial industry awards, which are often based on “pay to play” participation, and/or business metrics, such as assets under management.

The Investopedia 100 celebrates financial advisors who are making significant contributions to critical conversations about financial literacy, investing strategies, life-stage planning, and wealth management.”

To select recipients, Investopedia seeks advisors who have stood out through peer-to-peer nominations, as well as through noteworthy community outreach, including:

  • Publishing and speaking
  • Engaging in social media
  • Advocating for financial literacy among diverse communities.

Sound Financial Advice in Challenging Times

“It’s an honor to be consistently recognized by Investopedia 100,” says Schulte, “especially when I get to appear alongside so many of my most respected colleagues.”

Schulte adds, “As we’ve all struggled to stay connected during the pandemic, it’s been especially important to remain part of a larger community of independent advisors dedicated to helping families make smart decisions with their money, even during challenging times.”

Jared Tanimoto, the founder of Ascent Wealth, had the following to contribute:

“As president of the Orange County Financial Planning Association (FPA), I’ve had the opportunity to network with a number of fellow advisors. One of the things that stood out in my conversations with Taylor is how good he is at suggesting options to consider, instead of just saying, ‘This is the answer.’ To me, Taylor demonstrates the value of remaining flexible, while embracing what we’re really trying to accomplish for our clients.”

To Growing Together

Schulte founded Define Financial in 2014 based on his personal mantra: “To growing together.”  He’s been building on the sentiment ever since.

In 2016, he launched his popular “Stay Wealthy” podcast to help investors make informed decisions about retirement planning, tax reduction, and sound money management.

Today, the podcast reaches tens of thousands of listeners each month and was named by Forbes as a Top 10 Finance Podcast.

In 2019, Schulte and Justin Castelli (#5 on this year’s Investopedia 100 list) co-founded The AGC™ (Advisors Growing as a Community), a leading online community for financial advisors dedicated to expanding diversity and growing personally and professionally alongside their peers.

“I’ve gotten to know Taylor over the past couple of years as a member of The AGC. He’s not only a fabulous financial planner, he’s a model for so many of us. I really respect how he’s grown his business and the clarity he brings to who he serves and how he serves them. Plus, he’s incredibly generous in sharing what he’s learned along the way and encourages the rest of us to deepen our collaboration and connections. The profession is much better off for having him in it!” ~ Stephanie McCullough, Sofia Financial

Schulte is also a familiar presence on most of the popular social media forums, regularly contributing to investors’ and advisors’ knowledge base.

Future Expectations

What’s next for Schulte?

He recently took some extra time to tend to his growing family, having just welcomed his third child, Cece Mae, in early June.

But don’t blink. He’s already back to his regular podcasting schedule, and the Define Financial team is hard at work prepping for their favorite season, year-end tax planning!
